How To Use A Sod Cutter To Level Ground
This is a short video on how to get your ground level in order to install seed or sod.
How to use a sod cutter to level ground. Proceed shifting the plank and checking levelness every 2 to 3 feet. Check for levelness then rotate the plank 2 to 3 feet 0 61 to 0 91 m like a clock hand moving from 2 o clock to 4 o clock. Once the blade cuts through the soil tip the cutter forward to level it.
Sod cutter or rototiller. You can use this type of cutter to remove long narrow strips of sod you can roll up and remove. You use the cutter by kicking the crossbar to move it along as you cut.
The sod cutter can also be used to help excavate some soil from the high side which will help you achieve level. Manual sod cutters are operated by pushing a horizontal crossbar with your foot to force the cutting blade into the ground. Starting at the outermost edge of that area give the cutter a kick with your boot to make the first cut into the sod.
Clearing the grass is one of the most back breaking steps and if you can use the right machinery to get the job done faster my advice is to do it. Once the grass is cleared and soil has been excavated to a roughly level surface you can start leveling the area using fine masonry sand. As you lay the board flat on the planned pool site it ll become immediately apparent which particular areas need to be flattened out.
Mark out the area where you want to remove all the sod. Extended length of board and a level. You need to rototill the ground to a depth of 2 to 4 inches.
